    Default Yellowtail on redondo pier

    Who would belive that yellowtail on pier..?

    this morning I got to redondo pier about 11 a.m.

    One of my body told me to hurry and get yellowtail..?



    Anyway afew people was talking about big yellowtail that

    someone got and lost to sealion...and it was big...

    showing me with both arm-full <---------------->


    as I was getting gears ready...

    guy next to me had line across and looks like got somthing,

    so I asked what you got....?

    He said I'm stock on something....and pulling but won't come up.

    soon he broke his line..

    So I through my line and I got stuck on it....

    as I pulled slowly and got heavier....

    when it got to surf I couldn't belived it...

    It was big Yellowtail....

    we used gaf..X2 two to bring it up

    It was 54 inches..

    up to my chest...

    sweet i would normally call bs but i caught one when i was working on the newport bait barge in the harbor it was sick congrats good catch

    WOW... Ive heard of Yellowtail coming up on that pier...Never actually seen one. Too bad the seals got to it before it was brought up. Nice catch!

    damn, that fish was lost.. seals had a feast other then macs hehe!

    Back in the 83 el nino. they bit off the pier and in the harbor... Nice fish..

    What a rarity, my guess is that it drifted some time dead and ended up near the pier. I remember back in the 80s when you could ACTUALLY SEE 40 lb yellowtail cruising in packs in King Harbor in Redondo, even by the little pier in about 20 ft of water. They wouldnt hit anything but MAN it was fun to see.

    That's a really nice size one too!

    It wasn't so long ago that maybe a couple days out of the year you would hear off people catching firecrackers like that off of Ocean Beach Pier. In years past, I've personally seen people catch firecrackers off MB jetty using surfpoles, a float and live smelt. I've never been so lucky.
