Increased Camping fees and mandatory 2 day fishing pass

Stella reels, teenagers toting $300 phenix rods, 12 ft custom rods with your name on it with flames, tackleboxes w/36 colors of powerbait, elaborate shoreline campsites, people taking off 24 hours in advance just to park in line, Gloomis this-that and the other, brand new powerboats.......these are all things I see when I go there. It's definately bling-bling fishing when you go to the OC. I never see that much pizzazz when I fish the Rockies or the San Juans.

Just sayin'.....maybe I just got rod-envy as I fish $20 Kencors. I dunno.

What you described is a small portion of the business that keeps that lake afloat, just a it represents a small portion of the trout angling community as a whole...nice generalization though.

And what % of those wealthy goes fishing at Irvine Lake? Smaller yet.


You might as well develop the land next door to the lake ( James Production Co. leases the land form the Irvine Co. ) and build Million dallar lake front homes and make the lake private . Then only the small % of the wealthy can fish the lake and that would be it as far as we know of Irvine Lake.

That is not very far off in the near future folks
