    Default 1.5 day on Grande....

Hey was up all... just wanted to share the action on Grande.... It was a blast, my first albacore for this year.... We spent most of the day trolling and patty hopping... The bites were pretty slim but Wil and I got our fill... It was some decent size albies.... enjoy the pics...

Nice fish guys. I'm thinking of booking a 2 day trip on the Grande. How were the accommodations on the boat?

Yes, please fill us in on the details. How was the crew, who skippered?

I have been on that boat several times on 2-3 day trips. Great prices but the crew usually sucked, very lazy, inexperienced and not friendly. James is a lazy Skipper but Scott was always good. The food was always fantastic, though.

I'd like to know how you were treated this time around. It will help me decide whether or not I may consider that boat in the future again.

    Thanx, Ambassadorhawg

Well theres plenty of room for your tackle and gear, food was decent, the galley was a good size and the berthing was well ventilated... Grande is not the latest and greatest but it was pretty comfortable to fish on..... Hopefully this answers your question....

As far as the crew they were not bad.... The skipper seemed pretty determined chasing the schools and trolling... We only went 50 -60 miles out and fished the same area as the other boats..... With the deckhands only two seem to be on top of things when it comes to gaffing and clearing tangles.... The other two, I think one was a pinhead and the other tended the trolling lines..... I feel that the deckhands could of done a better job chumming and keeping a proper rotation for the trollers.... ...The cook was good I have no complaints...

We had alot of first timer that cant seem to breakaway from the cattle boat routine..... The crew did their best to show them a new way of fishing... towards the end we had less tangles, but that was late in the day...... I feel the boat would of done better if there were more anglers than tanglers..... As an example when I hooked up, there were 7 people hooked at the same time and only two were brought up... Me and a guy with a coffee grinder.... It was like that all day so that is why I cant blame the crew.....

most albies were caught on 20-30# rigs. live dines and chovies were the ticket. Irons didnt do it for this trip, no love.
