    Default Mom's 79 th B -Day @ Club 33 today

Well, today is Mom's 79 th Birthday. I have a friend that got us into Club 33 @ Disneyland. It was planed two months ago. It was a little warm but not overly hot day. Mom has Parkinson and is unable to walk very far. We had a wheel chair that was Dads and that sure came in handy. Mom could of never made that walk from the parking structure to where you get the tram.

We got to the tram area and was waiting for a tram. A cast member ask us if we wanted to go on the little bus. ( It had a lift gate for wheel chairs ) You bet !! That was sure nice. Got droped off at the end of line and headed straight to Guest Relations. We checked in so to speak. The cast member gave us our one day park hopper w/ Club 33 on it. Mom got a Disneyland Birthday button with her name on it. Mom never had so many people wish her Happy Birthday.

Now its been 15 years since I have been to Disneyland and its been 44 years since Mom has been to DL.

As soon as we got through the entrance I took Mom's pic. with the hill and train behind her. I also got a guy to take our pic. together. We then headed down Main St. towards the old Red Wagon Inn. Thats where Mom worked from opening day at Disneyland for ten years. The old building is still there but has a different name, the Plaza Inn. We got a few pics. of the old Red Wagon Inn (now the Plaza Inn) . We then got more pics at the end of Main St. With Cinderell's castle in the back ground in front of the Walt Disney & Mickey Mouse bronze statues. Mom likes photos.

It was getting close to our time for our lunch at Club 33 so we headed down towards New Orleans Square and to # 33 Royal Street.. We had to wait till 1:15 to get in. They were busy today. Once you get inside the door of Club 33 their is a Host or Hostess sitting at a desk in front of you . This is the entry area of C33. They answer the call button you push to get inside of C33. They make sure your names are on the list with the proper amount of people in your group. There are stairs and an old time lift ( elevator ) that leads Members & guests upstairs. Now this is when the Hostess asked us if we want an escort ( because Mom is in a wheel chair ) I said yes. So we waited for a Club 33 person to escort us. Now, I am thinking we are going upstairs a completely different way than everyone else is. And I was right. A nice girl come to us and asked if we were ready. I said yes. We then walked out the front door of Club 33 and right across the little alley way ( Royal Street ) to a door at address # 30 Royal Street. The girl opened the door and we were in the kitchen of Club 33. ( how cool is that ? I guess you have to be a fan of cooking to appreciate that. LOL ) There is a small elevator for the staff to use to go upstairs of Club 33. We went up in this elevator and came out to a back staff area. You then turned right and there is a automatic sliding pocket door that opens when you get in sensor range. ( Just like Star Trek . LOL ) This automatic sliding pocket door opens up and your in the buffet area/ Lounge Alley and the bar is to the left as is the Disney Dinning (Trophy) room. To the right is the Main Dinning Room. Our table was not ready and we waited in the Lounge Alley. There is seating there and I sat right next to the bar. LOL A server ask us if we were thirsty and if we wanted some water . Mom & I were both thirsty. She also brought us a small cup of the soup of the day.( potato and asparagus ) we waited for some time. No big deal as it was just nice to be there . All the staff made us feel very welcome and did a great job.

Our table was ready and we were taken to the Main Dining room. We had a table for two right by a window next to the fire place. Looking out the window you can see Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer's Island. It was the perfect table!! I ordered a Corona . I was very parched after the long walk and hot sun. Our Waitress name was Angela ( I think thats how it was spelled. ) She was fantastic. We got the menu's and looked them over. I ordered the steak and Mom ordered the Lamb chops. ( Mom don't eat meat so I got to eat them both :) ) I went to the Buffet and fixed up a plate for Mom. Everything was good. I then fixed myself a little plate. The waiter set a basket of bread and some butter scoops . MMMMM Butter .

I did get quite a few photos of the food and Main Dinning Room . Mickey Mouse and Pluto were there walking around and I got a a photo with Mom and them. I finished my first beer and ordered another one. Why not? LOL.

Soon our dinner plates came and the food was excellent . Mom told our waitress Angela, that she use to work at Disneyland years ago. All the castmembers that heard that Mom worked there so long ago were all ears to Mom's stories of Walt & Roy Disney back in the day. It was really her special day . After dinner I asked Angela about the history of Club 33 sheet that was in the menu. She said most people help themselfs to it. ( Take it ) I told her Mom raised me better than that. She smiled and later brought us two of them rolled up in a rubber band. She also said the wait staff wanted Mom to have some Club 33 pens because she use to work at Disneyland. I was so happy to see the look on Mom's face when Angela put these Items on our table.

I then asked for some coffee for Mom & I and went to get us some dessert. It was piled high . They really go all out at Club 33. We ate sweets and drank coffee and just enjoyed ourselfs. This was such a special day. Thanks to a friend .

I got the bill. Boy , I'll tell you it was not cheep by any means. But the moments Mom and I spent together at Disneyland and Club 33 are priceless. We then self toured the rest of Club 33. Went into the Trophy Room. People were eating at one table so we just did a peep in and left the guests to enjoy themselfs. I almost got a Club 33 hat. I should of. If I ever get the chance to go again I surely get me one of them hats. LOL

As we were exiting Frontierland and coming to Main St., we saw that people were lined up all along Main St. There was some kind of parade going to happen and we were walking down Main St. towards the entrance and Mom is waving to everyone , People see her button and wish her happy birthday .. People were wishing her Happy Birthday and taking photos of us walking down Main St. It was like she had her own parade. It don't any better than that I tell you folks. Mom was so happy.

Well, thats about it. We had a great day and one that will be remembered forever,
    Thanks to a friend .

I have a bunch of photo's to post of the day. I will post them tomorrow with the help of an FNN member that is better at posting pics. than I am. LOL. Please check back and see the pics.
