Default Drift for Halibut between Venice and Santa Monica 6/28

A buddy and I took my boat out yesterday morning to try for some Butts..

We left the marina at about 7:15am. It was already 65 out and the water was smooth. The bait dock and huge sardines that were really lively. We headed out to Twin towers area and drifted between 75' and 40' of water.

The bite was sloooow. My buddy landed one short 20" halibut and I caught a couple small mackeral on a trout rod. We did have several other good bites though. One send my bait back in 2 pieces and the other cut my hook of clean.. I didn't even notice that bite but when I realed my line it, it looked as if somone took a scissors and cut my leader..

Even though we didn't catch much, it was a relaxing way to spend out of the office and a great way to sea test my new (to me) boat.

Looking forward to posting better reports down the line.

    Scott
