Default Which reel for my ulua???

Well i was decided on getting a trinidad. but i have heard such great things about newells. Im not sure what size. I wanna be able to take it to cedros islands for the irons. im putting on my 9'3" ulua. I wanna put 65lb spectra on it but also be able to fish strait 40lb sometimes. When i fish spectra i wanna 100 yards of 40lb or 50lb topshot.

Which reel should i get? trini or newell? and which size of newell?

    Thanks,
    Sam

P.S. If anyone wants to give me more tips on fishing the iron its be appreciated. just send me a pm.

Newells are good, but they're kinda old school. I do like the trinidad and I think the 30 size would fit your needs well. Spool it up with 300 of 80lb braid and it will still have plenty of room for a heavy topshot.

If you don't want to spend that much, you don't need to. The Saltist 30T will work fine. Heard nothing but good things about it when fishing the iron.

Go with the Trinidad 20 or Saltiga 30T. Shimanos run bigger than Daiwas for the saltwater baitcasters. You could go with a Trinidad 40N too. Newells are great for their price range, but if you have the money go for the Trinidad or Saltiga.

Yup, Newells are pretty old school (think Penn 500 ish)... Dam good reels that cast great...
I think that a Daiwa Sealine X would be a better choice then Newell???

And Yup, that 9' 3" is gonna do ya in.....
Your looking at possible Tuna to 100# (++) at Cedros area, Yellow Tail to 50#+++ ..
A shorter rod would not give them so much leverage/advantage...

+1 on the Trinidad or Saltiga

ulua on the iron, not bad!
seen yellowfins to 100lb come up on the uluas.

it was during the time when uluas first came out and everyone had to have one.

you can get about a mile or so on the ulua .
