Thread: San Justo Res.

    Default San Justo Res.

San Justo is about a 10 minute drive from my house, so this is the lake I fish most of the time.

    Trout
Some days I catch my limit of stocked trout, some not. I use a sliding egg sinker with a 1-2 foot leader and a trebble hook. I use floating power bait. If you don't, you'll catch nothing but weeds all day. The best time is in the mornings from the opening of the lake until about 10AM. After that, they'll start hitting again about an hour from sundown.

    Large Mouth Bass
I've never had any luck with Bass. I fish from shore and have never caught a keeper. I've seen other people catch 5 pounders, and the largest caught at the lake has been a 17 pounder.

    Crappie
I've never caught a crappie at the lake. My nephew caught one approximately 1.5 pound crappie last week.

    Bluegill
These guys are everywhere. Just drop a hook/worm/bobber setup and you'll catch these guys all day long. Great for little kids.

    Where to Fish
The most convenient place to fish is right near the parking lot. There is even a fishing dock teaming with bluegill underneath. I have never had much luck with trout at this end of the lake. I usually walk over to the west side of the lake and fish from a point. Also, once noon comes around, it starts to get windy. This is a popular place for windsurfers. The west side of the lake has small hills behind your back. If you are on the east side, you'll be casting into the wind.

Ok, I went today and had ZERO luck for some strange reason. The fish were surfacing quite a bit, but very few bites.

Also, I forgot to mention ticks. I plucked two off my neck today, and four off my nephew.
