Irvine Lake No-Limit Trout Derby June 6-7

All,
The first annual Irvine Lake "No Limit" Trout Derby will be held on Sat-Sun June 6-7.
Cash prizes for the first 5 places, for the single heaviest TROUT stringer NO MATTER HOW MANY FISH ARE ON IT.
The final rules are still being hammered out, but wanted everyone to know the dates!
Have fun.
PS- most likely this week will be the last stocking of trout for the season [depending on water temps], and Kids Lagoon stocking of catfish will start next week to accommodate several Boy Scout events.
The main lake's first catfish stock will be 10,000 pounds just before the June 12 opener.

Irvine Lake has had plenty of "no limit" trout events [not derbies] in the past, but they have normally been a little later in the summer when the fishing had already deteriorated.
Back in 2003 we did have an excellent bite in mid-July, and skilled deepwater anglers were filling ice chests with 20 to 40 fish a day for about 10 days.
Only under exceptional circumstances do the trout survive all summer long in Irvine, the hope here is to allow the fish to be caught by anglers while they are still biting.
