Laughlin Last Weekend

Ive been meaning to post this for a week but havent got around to it. I went to the river with my family down river from laughlin about 5 mins from the Avi for the weekend. My family owns a place out there with a private marina. The marina is no fishing but its just loaded with fish. So I decided that i was going to stand on the points fishing the mouth of the marina cuz ive seen a ton of people do it and I dont have a boat to go out on. I teased a couple of guys down on the beach too because they were down on the beach fishing with anchovies and hadnt caught anything, they said there was absolutely no way I was going to catch fish on a plastic worm if they couldnt catch anything thing with anchovies. I told them "I know im going to catch more fish than you"

I headed down to the point and on about my 5th cast i got nailed by a smallie :) So i had to run back to the beach to gloat real fast. After that security for my marina came down and warned me that I may get my line cut when the boats come in and that past a certain point it was not fishing. I said that was no problem and then we talked a bit about my fish and he headed out. I only fished for like 2 hrs before my family decided to head up because they were going to go the casinos.

The next day I was fishing the same exact spot just on the opposite side of the mouth and within 20 mins of being there security comes down (same guy) and tells me its not fishing and that my line can get wrapped around the prop of an incoming boat and break the seal on the engine. WTF!!!!!!! I was fishing with freaking 6lb test! I was pissed so gave up on fishing because i didnt want to waste my time fishing in the current and accidently hooking a striper or something. How the heck is he going to tell me I couldnt fish there when he said it was ok the day before. I asked him and he said that it wasnt ok to fish there yesterday and I told him, ok so you lied then and he said no. WTF they need to straighten out where you can and cant fish. So I just walked the shore and I was getting followed by a little small mouth it was so funny. everytime Id stop he would stop and look at me. and then when i walked it would follow me along the shore. It was a trip! He followed me all the way down the shore to the boat launch and then half way back before he decided to take off.

So I only got to fish for 2 and half hrs :( bummer but I still caught more fish than the guys using anchovies :) hahahaha

Nice read BassLady, sounds like you had a great time in Laughlin. Bummer about the security dude, but you got in on some fish! Smallies are a blast and much better fighters than their green cousins imo, well done.

Crazy security guy! That's cool about that bass following you. Someone probably started feeding him nightcrawlers or he got good at stealing people's bait and associates humans with food. Nice pics... and I'm jealous again! I love catching smallies! There aren't any around here, except for the occasional ones at DVL.

screw that guy, i hate people who dont admit they messed up. you know for sure you're right, but they'll argue with you to the death that they're not wrong. at least you got a couple fish.

I just think the fish had a crush on you!!and me seeing the size of your bronze backs im starting too J/K that security sounds like a douche I was on the river and canals didn't hook up any smallies bigger than two pounds bummer but had alot of fun C&R funny thing those smallies are funny they like to check out the offering by swimming right along side and either give it a green or No faster retrives seem to produce more strikes for me a least at the time oh my GOD smallies!!!!!!!!
