    Default Short City Park Session

Had to go to class at 4:00 and was bored, so I decided to hit the lake up before I left to class. I decided to ditch the tried and true t-rig and try a super light 1/32 oz wacky ?cotto? hook. Good thing I brought the Shimano Core, because casting a 1/32 oz wacky head would be asking for some backlashes and the Core casts extremely light lures no problem!

Anyways, I rigged up a Jackall flick shake worm in pumpkin pepper and 2nd cast, I feel a slight snag; I free the snag, and see a green belly near the surface... IT WAS A FISH!!! Note that I never throw anything this light and it was presenting an extremely slow fall, which is probably why I didn't initially feel the bite. City park fish are awesome since it seems like they fight like they are 2x their weight. After a short fight I bring it up and take the quick picture and release the bass. Weighed approx 2 lbs.

The fish made my day and I actually left after casting 5 more times... I probably had under 10 casts and stayed 15 minutes. Went to the GF's house to see her new haircut, and rid my hands of BASS smell before class.

For those of you lazy to read the report:

Rod: Shimano Cumara 6'8 Med Fast
Reel: Shimano Core 100Mg (8# Seaguar Fluorocarbon)
Lure: Jackall Flick Shake Worm Pumpkin Pepper, 1/32oz Wacky Head

it's called getting hurt during Jiu Jitsu practice and using your tuition to pay for nice gear.

Gheez how do you cast a lure so light on a baitcaster?! Nice bass though.

Nice looking bass. I tried dropshotting this afternoon for a couple hours, but no luck. I saw one guy catch a little one casting out a lipless crank.

I was wondering the same thing. I tried to dropshotting on my existing baitcaster, but I kept backlashing with the light weights. I have to use at least a 1/2oz sinker. Can you recommend any decent baitcasters for finesse fishing? I looked up that Shimano Core, but it's out of my price range. Beautiful reel though!
