Default Berkley recap + bonus "RodWars" coverage

Been a crazy week so this is a little late, but I wanted to make sure I posted a report because last weekend was a BLAST!

I hit the Vine just shy of noon and had a few hours to fish in hopes of geting dailed in for the the following day. I was encouraged by the first fish I saw being brought to the scales...nice fish dude!

Stopped by the ramp and talked to ap1969 for a little and then headed over to the flats where I bumped into last year's Masters Champ Robert as well as my buddy Ben. fished the flats for an hour and headed over to meet up with Timster, but I missed him by a few minutes....apparently the spot was on fire for these guys!

The bite had slowed to a crawl, but I did manage one fish to punk the skunk!

Wrapped things up at 4pm and made the trek up the hill and towards the campgrounds to meet up with 2Quick, Bing and Candyman. Took a few shots on my way up....the Vine is hard to beat for local scenery imo.

    Another view of the lake...

Spring is upon us without a doubt

Settled into the camping spot and had just enough time to watch the friday stocking....1 of the 3 loads of fish were very impressive, the other 2 were "Jimmy" fish

The stocking is always cool to check out...lotsa of good people enjoyed the show

One of the better models that were stocked

Jimmy doing his thing after the stocking...don't ask me what the hand gesture is all about

After the stocking Bing and 2Quick started preparing for battle and comparing notes...Bing just had to touch the pink rod!

That is when 2Quick busted out his 10.5 foot "secret" weapon....I told him he was stepping on Koshaw's toes and this could be the beginning of "RodWars"(more on that later)

As the sun began to set the masses began to descend upon the Vine and the party started...O_L's limo service upon drop off

WPCBANDIT joined us for the evening...nice meeting ya Andy, cool hat!

Friday night was a huge party complete with carne asada tacos compliments of Team Phenix. Sure nice to know the BS between a few people didn't get in the way of a bunch of fisherman sharing a good time and a few cold ones together. A big thanks to the Phenix guys and in particular ap1969 for the hospitality....very cool.

After stuffing ourselves we joined our neighbors for some live music...these guys are fantastic and have a great sense of humor!

Sue and Binger taking it all in....

Hitts, the Candyman Crew, NoHoArt and new friends enjoying the music

    Excellent guitarists doing their thing.....

Ended the evening around midnight and got a good night sleep....up by 5am and ready to slay along the West Shore. Bing and NoHoArt were nice enough to shuttle us over to the spot. Team57 was well represented and we had a great time fishing together...there must have been almost a dozen of us at one point including Sue, Hitts, Bullets and later Kalidawg.

The West Shore was a busy place to be

Part of the Candyman crew rowing to the spot...nicely done guys!

Fishing was tough at times and really good at others....most of us caught a few fish each.

    WTG Sue

Candyman had the hot rod as the day wound down...here is one of his eventual limit

    NoHoArt

Heck I even caught a few fish!

    Farmer HittsOn and NoHo "chillin"

2Quick getting it done with his weapon of choice!

The day ALWAYS ends too quickly....Bing picked us up and we headed to the weigh in and called it a day

Got to the cafe and learned that GlennsFishing got one of the big fish of the day trolling orange powerbait Congrats Glenn! My lucky streak continued at the raffle and I walked away with a new pair of dikes! Thanks Irvine Lake!

.....and now the updated saga of "RodWars"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRHFc...eature=related
(background music to be played while continuing)

A short time ago at a lake not so far, far away....

It is a period of civil unrest at the Vine...rebel anglers have been fishing from a hidden base and have landed multiple trout limits lead by "2QuickWaterwalker" and his 10.5 foot lightsabre....

During the slayage an ominous presence has managed to steal the the Vine's secret plans to salvage a few trout, dashing the hopes of catching a holdover fish in August. Armed with the ultimate weapon of mass trout destruction "DarthShaw" wields his 12 foot rod effortlessly, capable of wiping out an entire stocking in a single afternoon!

Pursued by the Vine's sinister trout filleting agents, Princess Sue races towards cloud nine aboard the Budweiser Starship, custodian of plans that can possibly save the trout and restore order to the Vine...

COMING TO A LAKE NEAR YOU.......

    "RodWars"

Thanks for reading and may the trout be with you.....
