    Best way to prevent eye injuries aside from glasses is knowing how to handle a 'snag' situation. Most fishing eye injuries from freshwater come from the snag on the reeds and the noob who just starts pulling as hard as they can.

    Always:

    1- Pull the line from the end of the rod, not from the reel itself

    2- Look away as you do this

    3- Make sure not to just keep pulling as hard as you can but rather give it a few jerks
