Default 3-01-09: Big Cods On The FISH MOORE

Did the opener today with my friends Scott, George, Dan, James and Lloyd Moore on his boat, Fish Moore.

We headed outta MDR for one of the usual numbers under calm weather. It stayed fishable until around 10:30-11:00 and then it blew around 20 knots.

We fished the same spot all morning, drifting a bit and then repositioning.

Big 'ol groupers were the main catch (yeah, they're endangered?!). We ended up keeping limits of groupers, 5 reds, 2 barberpoles and a few greenspots. I also caught a rock and a cucumber. Lloyd got a closed season legal Ling which went right back into the drink.

We slid inside to drift for flatties but the wind followed us in so we called it a day not long after Noon.

Back out to kill more cods up at the Channel Islands on Tuesday!

    Enjoy the porn...

Nice. Yeah I know what you mean about the "endangered" groupers.
They accounted for at least 50% of our catch today.

I think that the purpose of having a 1 fish limit for salmon groupers is to kill some of them off . Anyways nice rockfish man!

You know what's crazy...if we tried to change the limit on those "endangered" species, they probably would, but would say their dramatic measures worked....instead of admitting their original research was wrong.

In case anyone was not aware, effective March 1, 2009 the limit for Bocs has been increased to 2 fish.
