Thread: The Vine 2/2

    Default The Vine 2/2

Headed to the vine and try our luck at some of those steelhead trout and the lake did not disappoint. Arrived around 8:30am and did the mandatory breakfast burritos stop at the cafe. Was on the water by 9am and started trolling some rapalas towards the dam and back along the west shore for nothing. Decided to turn and head towards the flats and that's when my bros rod got slammed by 4+ lb steelhead and that fish went nuts. That fish went airborne 3 times and when we finally got the fish next to the boat we realized we had forgotten the net, oh *****. After many attempts of trying to bounce and scoop into boat the fish finally spit the bait. We regrouped and trolled the flats the rest of the day and finally boated 2 feisty fish after lost 6 at the boat. I managed to hook 3 and lost them at the boat. The day was nice with a little bit of wind around noon and the water temp was 55-56 around the flats. Finally put the boat on the tailor around 3:55pm and headed home. Sorry no pix of fish but some pix of the lake.

Aaaaah Dude! Major bummers about forgetting the net and losing those beasties. I guess that won't happen again. I'm just picturing and giggling as a see you guys leaning over the boat trying to scoop those thrashers in....sorry...ya gotta admit, it's probably funny now....anyway, makes for a real adventure and a better story!!!

Nothin' better than hanging out with friends and being a little crazy. Thanks for the report and the pics!

    Thanks DG

I was idling the boat while my cousin was trying to scoop those fish into the boat and I was cracking up. Every time the fish got close he would pull his hands in, hard to scoop fish with a mouth full of sharp hooks. We later bounced the fish on board like saltwater fishing except we were fishing with 4-6lb test. Its always good when you can spend time with friends and family.
