I've tried the DC versions of Shimano US reels, and honestly, I'd rather use my thumb to control the spool, than use a microchip. My thumb saves me about $200 that way.
I am a proud owner of a Calcutta TE DC 200. I also got a killer deal that I couldn't resist. I can cast a flylined Senko a mile or two in 50 mph winds, burrito in the other hand, and chatting on my bluetooth. It does what it says it does, faster rpm.You still have to thumb it, but not as much which translates into farther casts. However, you can't pitch with this reel without getting backlash here and there, due to the faster spinning spool, or is it just me.
