Went out to Vail today with Stewart and his Dad Jim.
It was a beautiful day on the lake, the weather was great, and the bass were chewing our offerings.
We caught bass from 2ft -26ft of water running two completely different patterns. We started the day throwing reaction baits and then when it slowed down so did we and we ran a finesse pattern in the late morning to afternoon. We caught around 16-18 bass. About 1/2 way thru the day I caught a bass that was about 13 inches and Jim laughed and said that I "just caught the smallest fish of the day". Stewart shot his dad a look as if to say "dont test him".. I simply said "yep thats the smallest so far but I'll fix that."
About an hour later I tell Stewart to cast into a small pocket so he makes 4 casts with no luck... He said.."no ones home".. and I said.. "lets just see about that" so I fired a cast into the small pocket.. I feel some slight presure, set the hook and an enormous mouth rises to the top of the water as I say..."Look at this Donkey!!!" I get the bass to go down and I bring it next to the boat and I lay on the deck and lip the biggest fish of the day.. ... 7 lber in the boat!!!!
That 7 lber looked like it should have been a 9 lber. It was EXTREMELY SKINNY...EXTREMELY!!
Of our 16-18 bass our best 5 weighed between 20-21 lbs..
Stewart with a nice 4 lb Vail Bass
Jim gets into the action with a feisty Vail Lake bass of his own..
Jim is at it again with another Bass in the boat!!
Heres Stewart with another feisty Vail Bass...
This was my big fish of the day.. Notice how big its mouth is and how long this fish was but how skinny... UNREAL!!!
It was a fun day on the lake.. Good job guys...
Hey Stewart thanks for saving that big one for me to catch!!!
