Default What a day! CORONA LAKE

So for my lil brothers b-day I gave him the gift of a peaceful day on the lake. well we thought it was going to be a peaceful day. It started off at 5:00am we departed Azusa on our way to meet up with my brother-in-law at corona. we got there around 5:35 thanks to my driving, not to many cars in line we got in got a boat and headed off to our honey pot.

To my surprise no love not even a bite for the first hour if it wasen't for the beautiful moon shining on the water I would have been a lil on end.

anyway back to it we moved around and it was my brother-in-law to get the first hook up did not put up to much of a fight for it's size but we were stoked none the less.

so we think it's going to pick up and we get ready to catch some fish. about an hour later without a bite we figure we better move, we head over to the tree in the water and anchor down and within the first 5 minutes of our lines in the water lil brothers line gets hit really good fighter jumped a couple times so we get it in the boat and before we can high five my bro-in-law hooks up need less to say I'm getting a lil P.O'd that these guys are hooking up and I'm sitting here netting their fish de-hooking their fish string their fish rigging my lil brothers poles and no love for the skunk from the fish gods.

so finally I hook up and it was a good one 3lbs biggest pulled in so far gave me a good fight on my american spirit with 3lb maxima and 2lb vanish leader (we cut the leaders down to about 6 inches)

so now I can settle in for a beer no skunk today, just then bro-in-law hooks up again good size about a 2lb'r. we all have a beer and then it happens lil bro get hit hard his reel screams (or maybe it was me) whatever it was it spooled him and broke the leader it never surfaced just ran deep. so we have some choice words for the moment and decided it's time to take a break the wind had picked up quiet a bit and we all needed to use the latrine. so we head in with 5 fish in the boat and a story of the one that got away. It's about 11:45 and I wanted to get out of there by 3:00pm so we finish up get a re-supply of beer and head out on the choppy water. we try the south/east corner some guys said they did well there, anchors down lines in the water crack a beer say "I have a good feeling about this spot" 2 minutes bam fish on my lil brother grabs his video camera and good thing even though it was a 2.5lb'r it took me sometime to land it.

for the next hour we had no time to rest hook up every 5 minutes not kidding it was a blast sorry did not take any pictures to much action but here are a couple of the stringer at our half way point

so we got our limit lost a big one and had a great day I had to go up and get weight of the 15 fish and the big ones hope you enjoy the report half as much as I enjoyed the day. "Corona is the place to fish" (and with a lil help from the staff "cleaning the fish we got out of there by 3:00)
    (lil bro "happy B-Day)

if you read this whole report to the bottom you deserve to know we caught all the fish on a 6 inch 2lb leader with green, orange, grape power bait dipped in garlic or corn. happy hunting.

no the water is still brown, you have to really drop the bait right in front of them.
