    Default sleep is overrated

I was hoping for a kick back day at the Vine today, after getting less than 2 hours sleep. I had promised FisherBrat that I'd take him fishing if he finished his creative book report. He made a mobile, and I set him up with 8 pound flourocarbon, and we practiced some of our knots!

But by the time I finished packing the truck and doing all the other dirty work, it was 2:30am...had just enough time for a 2 hour nap...no worries. It's a 10 minute drive to the gate. And I figured it was just gonna be me and Cindy and my boy, so how much more laid back could it get? Even looked like a better chance for relaxation as we noted a remarkably short line (two lanes at 6am) and very mild, warm windless weather.

Fisherbrat and I hit the Flats around 6:15am and started unloading next to Robert, last year's tournament winner. Robert already had one in the basket. Cindy pulled in next to us. I was still getting the our stuff out the car when Cindy got hit, one minute after casting!

Within 5 minutes, Garrett was on!

Powerbait was the hot ticket for Robert through most of the morning; it landed our first two. Later, Cindy and FisherBrat got steady hits on plastics, powermouse combo.

it was relentless! After about a couple of hours, the bite settled down and Cindy and I were able to hang out with our favorite dude Patrick.

and Garrett had time to make his own rodholder Sorry Yamafish!

Robert and Garrett got double limits by 11 am, and Cindy also limited out at 5! Her first limit! You go girl!

Our "laid back" Sunday at the Vine ended by noon; just enough time to go home and really relax.

    keepin it dirty,
    Dirty Girl

Xy, thanks for the great report and pics. Garrett, you are gonna be a Mega-Slayer this season.

I have not fished with Robert since right after the last Masters. Robert is totally chill.
I am not surprised that you guys limited in the spot by 11 am. BTW, that log in the one pic looks very familiar.

I am really glad to hear that everybody nailed something today.

Cindy, I know how much you like that spot. Me too.

And in a completely unrelated matter.

Hey Patrick....................did you eat any of it yet?

2 hours sleep ?? your a fishing mom now that Garrett knows how to slay those Irvine trout . Your gonna have to get used to relaxing at the lake , ha Cindy and Garrett are quiet a team . Garretts got a good long rod , maybe you can teach him how to fish the mini jigs once he gets his casting down , he'll probably become one of the new legends of Irvine if hes allowed to fish alot only living 10 minutes away . Cool mobile Garrett and good report DirtyGirl . [ to bad you and Garrett missed the very informative fishing seminar yesterday , there was a great section on mini jig fishing ]

Great that you got out to catch some fish! Trying to get over being sick with my sinius infection so I can fish next weekend, I wasn't willing to to tackle the wind today at the lake.

Looks like Fisherbrat had a great time and that is what Mom likes, right?

I quit using bells quite a while back and converted wine corks with paper clips for my fishing indicators. Nice thing about it is if you lose one you get to drink another bottle of wine!

    I love WINE!

BTW... I agree... sleep is very over rated. Think of all the things you miss while sleeping.
