Thread: pyramid attempt / castaic upper new years eve day !

  1. #1

Default pyramid attempt / castaic upper new years eve day !

Bob, KPN and I all set out to hit pyramid Wednesday morning (new years eve day), we got there nice and early….

We all sat there waiting for them to open the gates…..

It never happened, they obviously decided to close on new years eve day and didn’t put any sign up on the gate…WTF ???

Finally someone called the office and found out they were closed !

    WTF ????

We wasted much valued fishing time so we decided to run back down the hill to Castaic.

It was pretty slow, we trolled for quite some time, all the way to the buoy line which was down again so we trolled in the back bay near the dam for 2 short strikes and 1 LMB which KPN landed…

The water started flowing in which was pretty interesting, our anxieties ran high as the bubble began to blast water about 5-6’ high out of the lake, we hoped this might stir the bite……BUT…..no more love….

About ½ ways into the day Bob gets the next hookup…..another LMB….
Hiro’s trout patterned bucktails strike their1st blood !

Another 2 hrs or so into It, I finally get my skunkshakin fish….another LMB ! dayam !

Trolled on for a couple other short tags but no hookups…

    FINALLY…..KPN nails the 1st striper of the day….nice and fat….chuncky schoolie !

    Then…..Zzzzzz…another hookup…

    I boated a nice solid schoolie !
Another base hit for Hiro’s trout bucktails !

We trolled on for a while as we began to see an improvement in the bite…

Then Bob’s up….Zzzzzzzzz !......another nice fat schoolie..

We headed near the marina to throw some big trout baits but no love…

Then it was time to go…

Dayam, it was a rough day but at least we all got tied into a few fish each…

I think Bob thought he was trolly and began doing some weird things to the fish……as weird as I am, I had ta photograph it !

Wonderfull day out there guys and wonderfull company…

Good times regardless of the absence of a wide open bite!

We might have done better had we gone there right off, we wasted much of the morn at pyramid !

I spent the rest of my new years time off resting in bed with that damned flu that’s going around…

Cant wait ta get out on the water again and get into some 2009 action..

    Till then…

    Salute !
    Gary

Man, Pyramid really needs to get their act together! You're right, a sign would have been nice.

Looks like you guys had a good time, even though it wasn't wide open. I think you guys made most of the country jealous with those pictures...fishing on New Year's day in SHORT SLEEVES! Gotta love Socal!

Good job on the stripies considering how elusive they are at castaic lately. I can't wait to see what spring time will bring.

    Default Always a plan B

Mr. TO/ Bob, you have always been a class act guy with me so don't be upset if I give you a hard time with the trolling thing(Some recent post). I was thinking about Quail, but I have an A.M pattern for down the hill so there was my back-up plan. Did you guys even get on the water by 8? And yes it was another Largie day. Nice seeing you guys in line.

I saw some KPN prototypes, looked good in hand!
