Default The Vine 1/3-1/4 with Bit and Whit

So I was lucky enough to fish the Vine for the entire weekend, my other buddies couldn't make the other lake/wheel'n run---really wanted to fish this weekend!

-Saturday hooked up with good ole BigBit...we trolled and trolled, finally finding schools and landed 2 trout, broke off 3 (lost $27 new goodies) and 3 LMBs! The day went by fast/slow/...the bite on the troll varied...by mid day, we located some of the fish, but were unable to secure more big hits...ran out of my fav lures earlier in the day. Talked w/ the doctorhook, omar and company as they were doing pretty good at there location. Saw a few trollers this day, and at the end of the day ran into 1leg....he had a nice sized trout-congrats!...i told him our losses, and called it a day. Went up to the tackle shop just in time to catch batman, and a burger lolz!

-Sunday with thoughts of the 3 breakoffs from saturday, i couldn't resist heading back to the Vine for a possible comeback. I got in, just in time to see all the boys, M&M (magic mitz), yimmy360, whit, nick, daniella, melanie and a few more..wow sundays the day to see everyone i guess! Picked up some snacks, chatted for awhile and shared some quick times...got the boat and headed out!...Spoke with dropshotwhit about hooking up around 10-1030, and agreed to meet after trying the troll again. Took off right were I left off, and dropped down the new lures again. Before picking up dropshot, I picked up a 1.5lb stockie, and it quickly de-hooked itself at the end of the boat. Shortly there-after it was time to pick up Whit…upon trolling/realing in the lines, I get hit and taken…and then released…@#$%. Hahaha..
Headed back to the docks, and found a wood in the trolling lanes, so I picked it up and brought it with me…the dock guys were looking at me saying wth? I said “biggest catch” of the weekend!~hahaaha… picked up dropshotwhit and headed out on the troll…made the same passes around the lake…we got hit quite a few times, but got no takers!!! Arrgh..trolling got a lil tough on Sunday for us. Then we decided to do the bait and wait…moved to 3 different spots before calling it a day…We managed to land 2 more trout within 2 hours and again got bit and lifted from some trout. Shared some technics on stuff, but mostly relaxed and more…ps I did see those birds waaay up in the sky swarming!-

    Photos later to download-

    Tight lines!

A day with Kewly and Whitney is a good day indeed. I have a feeling some of the strikes were missed due to laughing your asses off and not paying full attention to the baits.. lol

    Great job.

Nice report! Sounds like good fun nevertheless. maybe try changing out the hooks on your lures...I had the same problem with certain lures there until I changed the hooks. Just a thought! I plan to troll this weekend if I make it out.

hey mav...no doubt, only thing is, these were all brand new lures!!! I had a problem with their "teeth" chompin on my lines...had teeth marks scathing my 6lb/8lb test!

I hear ya...I had breand new lures too...the hooks were getting bent and I even broke a barb off on a fish!! If the lure is made by Daiwa..CHANGE the hooks...they are horrible...Rapal and Cultiva hooks are 100% better..I actually took the hooks off my Rapala's and put them on the brand new Daiwas..and it made a huge difference.

However, there have abeen a few days at the Vine where the fish were just plain short biting...maybe weather, maybe too much fishing pressure, I dunno. Did you use any scent on the lures?
