Default What is wrong with my LURE?

Hi again, I am sure you have read my fishing freshwater report. I want to discuss, a feedback and fishing tip.

Today, I went to the fishing Palmdale Aqueduct. I lost two stripers, because my lure was hooked off from a striper's mouth.

What is wrong with my lure? Why it failed?

I used the same color blue lure in the past, last September or October 2008 I lost one big striper at the 77 Street in Little Rock (east palmdale). It was hooked off a striper's mouth. What is the problem with my lure? I need your feedback and fishing tip. I did keep the pole straight up and pull hard to hook up a striper's mouth.

maybe you should try sharpening the hooks... go to bass pro shops and buy a hook sharpener, its always good to have one
and i know how frustrating it can be when you lose fish...
    ...Remember... its fishing not catching

Could it be you are using a POS ugly stick with no back bone to set the hook?
    Just a though.
The bait has so much action that the fish always miss it?
Don't swing next time fish it like a jig, and just crank.

Did you lose it right away or after a little bit of battle?
You should wait before you set the hook.
Let them inhale the bait, them after a second or so,
    set the hook.
Adding some kind of scent wouldn't hurt either.

Sounds like fishing to me. Some days the fish will be shy and barely bite/ other days you can throw a bare hook at them and they'll take it quick.
Thanks for the report, by the way.

It was set the hook on striper's mouth and battle, my test line is still loose, not tight... I retrieved a reel while I'm holding the pole up, but hook off...

Have you experience fishing striper? I have known fishing striper tip and tactics. I like just to discuss and feedback about this issue.
