For trout use lighter test for more bites.

Try 2 pound flourocarbon leader for trout for more bites. You need to use a stronger knot with flourocarbon (I've lost fish with the palomar and clinch knots). I like the San Diego or uni knot to my hook. For mono to flourocarbon, I like to use the seagar or double uni knots.

Also you have to wet the line while you cinch it tight.
