There was no reason to denigrate him as a "RICH KID". A couple of thousand dollars or so (not $20,000) in tackle is not that big a deal. You don't know what his priorities are, maybe he keeps from buying a new car for an extra year so he can buy better tackle.

p.s. who says he's a kid? I'm guessing that he's an middle class adult, who prefers to spend his hard earned money on quality products.
