Default SquidFest 2007-Nautilus from Newport !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I decided on a whim, to go squid fishing on a schoolnight. :D

Made reservations for me n Scotty on the twilight boat Nautilus out of Newport
First, off, some win-o boys decided it would be wise to strip down to the u/w and dive into the bay to obstruct the Balboa ferries. These guys were real braniac types. I was ready with the camera JUST IN CASE....You ever seen "When animals Attack?" one yahoo, came to his senses and exited after the bulls got a wee too close 4 comfort.

The other dude swam right in front of the O.C. Sheriif and got hauled out just as we took of. I was laughing my azoff!!! :P

We made a short run just south of the harbor, and hooked 2 in 20 minutes at 300 feet. Turns out, 1 of those was jackpot style at 19.8 lbs, but foolio didn't enter and got beat by a 19.1.

We then get called 35 minutes south by the Sum Fun who was done loading up. Cap'n says we passed tons of prime realestate on the way down. When we arrived, it was SICK WFO!

We slayed for only 30 minutes till Cap'n said we had to bolt cuz there was no way to clean them all in time! LOL Great problem to have I guess! LOL

There were tons of free swimmers and carnage as the frees attacked the hooked. It was sick!

They couldn't gaff fast enuf and we had to wait minutes at times!

We held the spot 4 another boat running south, then got outta there.

    It was absolute carnage!

    Jackpot weighing

    Scotty with his pillage.

    Me, yo!

Some cool dudes we met on the boat-two squidly virgins. Nice fishing boys! Nicered skirts too! Er, ponchos I mean....

Sorry ur crooked, I couldn't fix it???????

It was a spectacular evening w/beautiful seas, temps, and weather.

The crew was great and the cap'n was great. I had ONE MAJOR COMPLAINT THO! These suckers were raping EVERYONE for $4.00 PER SQUID to clean and it was "MANDATORY" since they weren't allowed to smear ink on the island. I'm sorry, but that was plain BS. They made guys with coolers even pay. What up with that?! Those weren't gonna leak!

That wasn't cool at all to trap people on the boat THEN tell them they MUST PAY MORE. They must have mistaken me for a rich guy!

    Till next time,

    GM

    Great report Greg.
I would have loved to have held one of those jets up under the cloaks of the Orange Coat community. Squishhhhhhhhhhhhh.

    Congratulations on the catch.

LOL....its evening time victor, if they have halfway decent paint, 99% of it will just rinse off...now, if if was a day trip, with the sun out, then it would suck!! :D

Nice job guys! They are to much fun reeling them in. To think, when i went fishing for them, i was going to bring my 12-25 rod w/ 15 lbs test..LOL.

Sounds like they have a good scam going on that boat with the captive audience and mando squid "processing."

the cleaning thing is no BS. the people in newport beach complained about people dragging their whole dead squid on the sidewalks and getting ink all over.
