Thread: New to hooping question

    Default New to hooping question

Are you allowed to hoop in harbors? Specifically, king harbor, long beach, marina del rey, any of the california harbors? I want to try this out but I do not have enough boat to go out.

in side the jetty's yes, just be careful with the boat traffic. and you want to do the hoopin on the end of the jetty for the best catches. little deeper water and better flow.

On the way back in Sun night/Mon morning we dropped 2 nets inside the breakwater at MDR before calling it a night and were promptly informed by the sherrif boat over his loud-speaker "you can't drop those on the inside...take em outside". O well, it was like 1 am and we just pulled them up, put the boat on the trailer and went home.

king harbor you can hoop inside. That's where I popped my hooping cherry. Harbor patrol cruised right on by. In Dana point harbor though they told me to move to the outside of the wall.
