    Default newport 6/01

    woke up around 330am and got the boat ready! ron was going to show up around 430am and called him at 515 and says hes just leaving :shock:
    launched around 645 at the dunes in newport! didnt really know were to go but south was where the squid have been! fishfinder takes a dump and we are looking for squid blind! stop around 3-4 mile south and drop the line with anchovies! nothing for 10 min and didnt know if the squid where around so i dropped a squid jig and it was on! :D 15 min later first one hits the deck :P . i got 5 and ron got one ! let him reel one of mine up because i was beat already :( great day out! thanks ron for towing the boat!!

    Hi FISHNMOFO,

    That's one cool fishy. They are very intelligent and trusting ..... it's a shame some jerks... not you ..... throw jigs at them, try to snag them, and other BS.

    I'm for thinking they're in the class of fellow-mammals such as porpoise, dolphin and whales.

    No I ain't a tree hugger! :lol: :lol:

    Looks more in the lines of a all-around rod like the G-Loomis ProBlue. A tad heavier rod ratings that a bass rod

    thanks for the comments!

    the rod is a shimano teramar with a tekota 600. worked fine for the sqiurts today! 80lb spectra with 9in squid jig and 8oz weight.

    mola looked like it was about 100lbs. looked like it was dead because it was so white. weired how it was lookin at us when we went by it.

    we should have cleaned those suckers out there made a real mess in the drive way!
