Quick trip report:

Headed up to the Eastern Sierras for the Memorial Day weekend. Left Friday morning and got to Crowley in time for the evening bite. Fishing was pretty slow, but when the wind calmed for a few minutes, saw plenty of fish taking some sort of emerger not more than 20 feet off shore. After about an hour of fishing, we had only one nice ‘bow.

Saturday we got a late start and headed for Lundy. Hiked over to the inflow and got only one fish in about 30 minutes of fishing. We decided to pack up and try the dam side of the lake. We usually fish the inflow and do pretty well, so I wasn’t expecting much. Fishing turned out to be pretty good and our group of 6 caught about 10 fish over the course of an hour.

Two of our group headed up to Tioga Lake and said it was wide open on some of the skinniest fish they’d ever seen.

Saturday evening we headed back to Crowley and managed 4 before we headed back to the condo.

Sunday we had boats reserved on Crowley. Fishing was really good and we got into a steady bite from the time we anchored up until we limited out at 11AM. Fish were all good sized with our biggest going a little under 3 pounds. Fish were caught on either nightcrawlers or Gulp.

Monday we went up to Rock Creek Lake and set up shop near the inflow. Plenty of fish boiling, but they didn’t want anything but the worms. Once we figured that out, it was steady picking on cookie cutter rainbows all afternoon long. Our group did manage to get one small brown.

Great weekend….weather was perfect and the crowds weren’t bad. Can’t wait to get back up there.
