Thread: 8/16 Avalon Bank

    Default 8/16 Avalon Bank

I have had the boat in the water in A-bay this week so were limited on options.

Thought about fishing 14 mile bank but I fugured it would be a parking lot . Saw some good water near the Avalon bank when I checked tempbreak so we decided to start there in the gray.

Started at first light at Avalon bank but didn't see a lot of life. Good temp of 71 . After a bit we started working a little south and found a line of kelps. on the 3rd one we found a nice school of Mahi. Small fish but lots of them.

Really picky fish so we broke out the 10 and 12 lb line and had to slow troll but we got em to go!!

Good times on the light line.........

Landed over 10 between the two of us. Released most of them and put a few in the box for the BBQ!

It was one of the calmest days on the water I have ever seen!!

Roughly 20 miles from A-Bay catching them on the bass gear...SICK

    Hi JT FISHJUNKIE,

Nice job on the fish and pica. Were there any moo-moos that made it out that way ... going or coming back ?

I didn't see any party boats in the area. A few private boats that made it out from Avalon around 9AM.

I think we were pretty lucky to find the fish that far north. Took a chance and it paid off..... nothing like finding them on your own!!
