Planning on hunting down some Giant Squid for my first time. Can you guys recommend the right set-up to catch them? What kind of lures, hooks, line, Rod, and reel?
Heavy rod & reel. Cranking power is important (they pull hard), base ball bat & 2 speed would be good..
40 to 60 Lb line, tied direct to Giant squid jig...
Sport boats will not let you use standard irons or jigs, the single treble hooks pull loose, fly and stick in the passengers... Mega Squid jigs only, for safety.....
Would Recommend them for PB also.
Good luck and take some bleach wipes and wear throw away clothes or rain gear......
