    That is horrible news....

It was fricken CRAZY up in the Sierras this past weekend! We got escorted by the CHP Monday afternoon just North of Independence on the 395 and I had a bad feeling there was more damage than what met the eye, but had no idea the fish hatchery was destroyed. My heart goes out to the residents of the area.

I'm glad I got to check that out a few times before it got destroyed... hopefully they build it back up and make it better than ever.

That sucks. Just another display of how powerful Mother Nature really is.

I wonder how the Kern planting base fared?

They usually just open the gates and let all the fish out when things like this happen. They end up in the lake pretty quickly and survive.

WAH :( I wanted to go there...

Didnt get a chance this year.

I wish them a fast and safe rebuilding.

Hmm maybe we can set up a donation thing on pay pal for em?

This IS a fishing forum and maybe we can get em going again faster?

The Mt. Whitney Hatchery has always been one of my favorites to visit. This is really sad news. I hope everyone in Independence is okay.

Just awful news so sad . Oak creek is the area where we go hiking and look at the migratory deer herd every year at thanks giving week . that area was just totally denuded by that fire last year , and some deer were still waliking around feeding on the new growth . the hatchery was a cool place for sure .
