    Default Rock Pile Report 5/19

    This is my first post.

Left Shelter Island at 4am and headed to the Rock Pile area. The ride out was a smooth as a lake. When we arrived, there was approximately 30 boats out there including the Producer, the Prowler, and the American Angler. The water temperature varied from 59 to 60.3 degrees. We fished from 85 feet to 120 feet. Overall the morning bite was slow with a few fish on the troll. The party boats were moving everywhere looking for fish.

    Morning totals:
    2 Lingcod
    3 Scuplin
Several hits from squid in the area.

In the afternoon, we moved over to the Coronado Islands (south kelp area) for some calico bass. Caught 2 calicos; however, slow again.

Moved to the middle grounds. Around 2pm the water temperature changed to 60 to 62 degrees. Switched to a Red 4.5" Fish Trap. This was the ticket. We caught 4 Yellow Tail ranging from 20 to 23 lbs. Caught the 23 lb on 15lb test with a Calcutta 200. That was fun. Anyways... Will attach pictures next time.
