Default Lake Mead Houseboat (7 day Vacation)

I'll start by saying WOW!!!! This was the best vacation I have ever had. I went on a week long vacation trip to Lake Mead. We launched out of Temple Bar. Spent 7 days on a houseboat. This trip was amazing. There was 14 of us. Me, my wife and her family. Triple digit weather every day. No clouds. It was perfect and Hot Hot Hot! I fished every day. Morning and night. Never been to Lake Mead but from all of the tips that I received from other FNN'ers I was able to have a skunk free week. I caught fish everyday. LMB, SMB, Striper, Catfish and Blue Gill. I taught my Father in law and sister in law how to fish for bass and was able to get both of them to land a fish. I also helped my wife catch her only catfish of the trip. (See last picture). I could go on and on with details for every day that I fished but it would take a day to write it and hours to read it so I'll make it simple and you can enjoy the pictures.

The LMB and SMB were hitting Senkos in Green w/Black Flake, Green w/Gold Flake and IKA's. But the hot bait was a Senko in Cinnamon with Black and Purple flake. Never seen this color and picked it up at the marina in Temple Bar. Most were caught up against the many shear rock cliffs and off points. Also caught some in the coves. There isn't much brush or weeds in the lake so it was nice never getting snagged.

Stripers and Catfish were hitting anchovie and worms. Best time and place to catch them were sundown of main points. I found this little island the was producing a fish every minute. It was WFO! Never had a chance to put my pole down. And i caught one blue gill on a power nymph. HA!

I fished from a Kayak a lot, which made it a lot easier to get into coves and hit points cause most of the shoreline is really steep and rocky. Thats pretty much the basics of what happened. If you would like more specific information please feel free to ask me. Ill be glad to share any information that I have. Now onto the pictures. Enjoy and thanks for reading! Check out the picture of me in the kayak... there is this HUGE pimple on my back! LOL!

Nice..looks like you had a great time and took in some nice little coves. Mead is AWESOME!!. The water is perfect for swimming and visibility is about 8-10 feet when calm. The variety of fish and success rate there are second to none. I'm fortunate to enjoy it just about every other weekend. I bet your family was stoked and if not already certainly hooked on the boating and fishing experience. Nice pics Adam, thanks for posting.

Did you snort any warm water into your sinuses? The brain eating ameoba is still lurking there!

Nice vacation spot. Lots of room to get away from others. Nice fish too.

    Thaks for the report.

Hooked is the perfect word. I can't wait to go back! Like Redknight said, there is no one around. I pretty much had every fishing spot to myself. Very clear water and perfect temp. Thanks to both ambassadorhawg and redknight for the tips to getting on the fish at Mead.
