    Default 6/22/08 NBU/BFT Westerly overnighter

Before anybody misunderstands the title, BFT = Best Fishing Tackle. There certainly were no Blue Fin Tuna's on this overnight trip.

So 21 people on the Westerly out of Pierpoint landing. NBU boys and some old faces came.

    Me
    Joe
    Mike
    Bob
    Sammy
    Yimmy
    Matt
    Walter
and the whole crew from Best Fishing Tackle.

I'm going to do the short report b'cuz I have the pics. The others will cue in with the full story.

Boarded at 9 pm and took off for San Clemente.

Woke up at 4:30 and started for the WSB's for no love.

Daylight to 10 AM Calico city. I landed a bull calico at 7 pounds. I just wanted to take the picture and release but the crew told me i had to keep it b'cuz the dogs were everywhere and the fish would surely be devoured. This kinda bothered me all day - felt really bad that the fish was older than I am and I killed it.

It was Damn hot and we were constantly swatting flies that landed on your face, back, arms and legs.

Bottom line, by the end of the day, Bob landed his first YT ~! Congrats homeboy.
Jimmy landed a monster 25 pound YT... (took him around the boat twice and he was so tired, he handed it off for Ymin to bring it to gaff). C'mon Jimmy wth happened there?
Walter landed his first legal WSB. Congrats Walter.

All the exotics landed today were HUGE.

And the 2 first timers traditionally ate the hearts of their catches.

What a great day of fishing.

    Someone else finish the post.

    Peace.

    KK.

    Fillin' in the gaps...

This morning felt like something special was going to happen....

Such as, Kevin was going to land a fish that he can shove his fist into...

Such as, we were going to see both sides of that thin line between:

    Confidence...

    And stupidity.

    And there's Bob...

I'm convinced that I wouldn't want to be stranded on an island with Bob.
Cause when we run out of food...he'll look at you as FOOD!! LOL!!

These feet belong to a man that didn't land a YT or WSB...and yet he's the bloodiest!!

That's a true sign of teamwork!! He coached Bob and Jimmy...and even helped Jimmy in his time of need.

As Kevin pointed out, it was a good day for the NBU - everyone had a shot - everyone had fun and there were those whose cherries were *popped*!!

Congrats to Bob on his first YT.
Congrats to Jimmy on his first a**kicking.
Congrats to Walter on his first legal WSB!!

    *credits*
Thank you Master Capt. John Ackley and crew for a great day. It was very slow and scratchy fishing but you proved that patience and dedication is the key to success!!
Thank you Chartermaster Sammy for arranging this trip.

Thanks NBU for representing in high style!

Thank you for reading our reports!!

    See ya on the water!!
