Default Loreto Mexico June 6-10 2008

    DAY 1 - Friday june 6, 2008
Greg and i get to LAX at 830am . the plan was to meet his friend Doug who was comeing in from Chicago at the Alaska airline terminal, but his flight was cancelled and he missed the flight to loreto with us  after a nice double rum and coke to easy the anxiety of my flying fear we load up and off we went !!
    long beach break wall

finally we made it to loreto around 2pm! get a couple of beers and a taxi and head to desert inn hotel.
got a sweet room with a view of sea of cortez

Gregs friend Doug got another flight and showed up around 7ish! we get the gear and head to the rocks out by loreto marina. snaged some bait fish and used them for the bait and wait! my first fish was a nice pargo and the doug scored one too! Greg got this cool looking saltwater catfish!
back to the hotel for the early morning fishing trip!

    day 2 - saturday june 7, 2008

get up at 530am and get over to gregs and doug room only to find doug sicker then a dog with the runs and vomiting from last night meal at the hotel! he was unable to fish that day which sucked! Greg and i head over to the marina and find are panga captain tony. We get bait and head to the fishing grounds about 25-30 miles out :agh:

after a little while we find about 30 boats on a wfo dodo bite! the fish would boil and then disappear after a few minutes and then show up again.

got limits and then trolled around for sail fish! lota life out there! birds, turtles, manta rays, and the ocassional sailfish busting the surface! tried baiting a couple for nada!

got back from fishing to find doug feeling alot better so we head to the pool with other anglers to share stories of the day and drink a few beers.
later that night we walk the town and eat at this house/taco stand called "super burro". just awsome tacos and burritos!
head to the local hang out called " el rodeo" for some local tuna chasing! great place! fine *** girls ! i think i fell in love a couple times :saint: :censored: :censored: what happen in mexico stays in mexico :woot:   i was sick almost the whole night with the dry heaves and stomach pain from some ceviche i had at the restraunt earlier that day!
    day 3 -sunday june 8, 2008
Panga capt tony picks us up at the beach in front of the hotel and off to the dodo ground! weather pick up and made it alittle rough going out! long story made short we did not find them and ended up seeing lots of sailfish and turtles! made are way back to a island close to shore for some great reef fishing!

    day 4 - monday june 9, 2008
went south 25 miles by taxi to porto escondito to shore fish from the dock. got a few triggers and doug got bit off a seirra on an iron! greg and a local american guy named ed said they saw a rooster but did not want to play! head up the hill to a lil hotel for some lunch.

Ed the fishermen we met down at the docks invited us back to his casa and gave us a tour! awsome house that has the dinning and kitchen all open! he had two boats and gear that would fill a takle store!

greg molesting eds dog :lmao: :lmao:

monday night we all went to "el rodeo" bar again  :censored: :censored: :censored:

    day 5 - tuesday june 10, 2008
get the stuff ready and packed for the trip home! gregs not feeling well and looks a little pale. take one last swim and get a taxi to the airport! we load on to the plane and get our seats. i see greg rush to the bathroom in the front of the plane and then see him drop to the floor :help: luckily there was a dr and paramedic on the plane and quikly helped him and set him up with a IV. flight crew would not let hime make the flight home and he got to stay another nite there in loreto! i hope everything is well with him! the last time i saw him he was feeling good after the IV fluids dripped in!

all in all a great trp with a few bumps in the road! cant wait to go back next year!
left alot out so greg will fill in the details when he gets back!
    some more pics

Nice report and pics! I hope your friend is alright. Are you sure you got sick from the ceviche and not the girls you fell in love with? Makes me want to take a vacation. :)

Dangit, you lil' senoritas had better not have killed my buddy Greg.

I thought everyone knew that you aren't supposed to drink the water, or eat the tomatoes, south of the border?

There were Dodo's all over that part of the ocean last year too as I recall?

Thanks for the report/pics. I am looking forward to seeing/hearing Madrigal's take on the journey soon.
