Default TJ's Sierra mission 6-3/4/5-08 (tons of pics)

Went for a little drive up to the Eastern Sierras this week.
This was mostly a scouting mission. Hadn't been to Bishop/Mammoth for many years.

The winds were just plain nuts about every place we stopped. mostly between 15-50mph gusts throughout the whole trip :p

Caught a couple fish on various rapala jerkbaits and split shotted plastics at the river via MTH1997's directions from my memory.
Lost quite a few fish because they were some serious fighters! They were escaping my jarkbaits just about every time. I lost a couple of nicer fish on the first few casts.

The fish were stacked up in the slow pools. I dawned the waders for the first run but fell in shortly after upon discovering the power of the river
    That water is cooold!

Hit up Crowley and Convict for some pictures, then Mammoth for the night at the holiday inn. Drove around the lakes in Mammoth in the morning before heading back down to the river and catching a few more fish at some previously scouted areas. The winds followed me down from Mammoth into Bishop so we decided to leave for home. Temp in Mammoth in the morning was 39* with the 15-20mph wind chill and I forgot the cold armor clothing.

On my way in I took a quick scenic detour to the Kern and Isabella, only to find more nutty winds. Got a tank of gas in Kernville and headed back home!

Here's a crapload of pictures. Gas is workin' on $5 a gallon here pretty soon folks

    The wind is killing me

    2-3' chop!

Waders drying after I fell in the river

Really nice pictures. You have a knack for capturing the essence of a location.

Now that your scout mission is handled, you gotta plan a few days before or after our trip in July to hit some more Sierra action.

Great pics. I never get tired of looking at those areas.

    Thanks for the props guys.
Something makes me think I might be hitting the Northern Sequoias or Sierra Nevada next week ;) Not positive yet though.
