The real problem with Newport Dunes is that its a 45 min. roll out to open ocean. If yer wanting some bluewater fishing, hit up Davies, Huntington Harbor, or Dana. Dana is the quickest of them all by far. The other 2 are a good 15-20 minutes outta the breakwalls.

    My 2cents.

I was just told Davies guest dock must have been hit hard before.
It was knocked off its concrete foundation.
Chance of really scratching your hull on the concrete.

    Then So. Shore,
You drag your props in the sand at low tide.

    Cabrillo,
Nice parking lot. Strange little ramp.
Lake mentality knuckleheads, sitting around blocking the docks when your returning.

Ive sure came to really like MDR
Kind of far from the better fishing though

On weekends, Newport Dunes is a nightmare. Very narrow launch ramps. I've experienced many near collisions. I prefer to take the farther trek to Embarcadero at Dana Point. In general, try to avoid weekends anywhere if at all possible.
i need a bigger boat i have never had a problem at newport, other than the ridiculous pricing

I'm sure you didn't mean to put down a kid's dad intentionally? Right?

depends where you want to fish, if you're fishing south then launch out of Dana quick ride out, or even make the drive to Oceanside. If you're fishing Cat, the flats, Izors etc.. then Davies, Sunset Aquatic (HB) or South Shores.. I personally don't like Cabrillo and Newport is over priced and a long ride out. It really comes down to personal preference based on experiences we've had... Good luck and make sure you have all safety equipment with you at all times..

    No insult intended at all.
I thought maybe he was joking about his dad making the ramp.
The builders only have so much room to work with.

Ive never even seen that ramp.
Most of the ramps are a little short on space somewhere.
The parking lots or the docks.

Sorry if you took my joke wrong Bassmaster818.

There was a rumor a couple years ago that even MDR was going to take away there huge parking lot.

They were going to move us into a parking structure somewhere.
My tow vehicle and boat trl length is 50'
My Radar dome height is 13'6" on the trl.
That would have worked out real good.
Guess someone most have pointed out to the planners that,
Are boats are bigger then Toyota's
