    Default Huntington and Seal Piers...

It has been quite a while since I have posted...mostly because I have had the skunk on my back for the last few outings. There is good news...I went out and did alright. There are some sardines now at the pier available with sabiki rigs...

I got up around 6...and stopped by Big Fish to get some bait...they are having a rod sale...I picked myself up one...I don't know all that much about rods and whatnot, but it might be worth stopping by to look at.

I stopped by Huntington to check out conditions..very few fisherman and even fewer fish...I then went to seal pier and found myself a bench...the water still has trash bags and those silica beads that is used to keep beef jerky fresh and stuff....

I rigged up and after a few minutes I got some nibbles...first fish...

    a little BSP...

then a few minutes later his big brother came to join in the fun...

Then I thought I had something big...this fish had some shoulders on it...then I get it to the surface and it's a medium sized bat ray...he broke my line off when trying to get him onto the pier...

then I think I get a good nibble...I set the hook and I think I am snagged...it's this guy holding onto the bottom...

A little bit later I get my first corb of 2007...not huge but a bean nonetheless...

It was a nice day getting out...although the wind was blowing pretty good out there...everyone had their hoods up on their sweatshirts...the pier looked like a una bomber's convention...

Till next time ladies and gents...

    ish...

Thanks for the report! Good to hear an update from the Seal. LOL, I thought those little "beads" were fish eggs. Haha, how could I be so naive... but the last time I went to Seal Beach pier, I reeled in an janky old hairbrush.

Nice job on the rock crab! My buddy and I were out at Balboa last night and almost reeled in a couple ourselves. At least, they looked like rock crabs [versus spider crabs] from where we could see em - they fell off and floated back down at the surface.

    Phish,

Good job on the fish/ray/crab. I gotta get out soon and start fishing again. I know what you mean bro about not posting due to skunking and not fishing. Been there way way way too many times.
