Default Victory 01/16 Trip Sculpin and Sandbass

    Hi Guys,

I'm posting this report just to get it on the board. I'll try to do a little tinkering and when I give up I'll PM Fisherman 57. If I have to reduce the dimensions to 57's suggested spec's, I will and I will try to follow the other suggestions now. I notice the fix last week was only tempoary ... at least on my computer. Wish me luck! :)

    Nope not working:
Note: Fisherman 57 .. feel free to EDIT my thread and I'll use that in the future as how to do it. No space between left and right image per page but ... Does size matter ?! :(

Congrats to you Ron on the fish amassed on plastics.

I was reluctant to fish next to you when ghetto dad and I went out on the Victory with you guys. Starstruck perhapshhh?
I also didn't want to attract too many fishies to your side of the boat with my squid strips, thereby skewing your catch ratio.....LOL...j/k Ron

Sunday I am going to spend at least 30 minutes fishing JUST plastics in an attempt to replicate your results from your latest trip report. 8)
And I ain't talking about the GULP stuff either!

Thanks for the great report, Ron.

    Hi one_leg,

Guys I KNOW face to face or from the boards, and or are polite and friendly are ALWAYS welcome to fish beside me ... whatever the bait !! You guys are always welcome. ALWAYS !!

Had a couple of clueless guys this week so thus the rant ! :) :)

My buddies always fish to the right of me and the left side is now (Winter) consistantly open as most anglers want to fish a stern spot. So when I have found where the fish are in the water column through hard work, searching, and trial and error, these meat-hungry guys, that have their two-hook ganions with a huge meat ball on each hook try to crowd me (the other day ... there's 15 guys on the boat ....9 of them were clustered right around me within 2 minutes, when before I started to hook up there were only my two buddies ... Huh !!) then ..... dropping down ... often losing fish ... basically catching the few biters, feeding the fish as well as making it tougher to catch the wary ones!!!

    My observation:
Huh....your bait is not helping to chum for bites via my type of fishing ! :) :) ONCE the fish key in on Squid (Squid that are around the area..... especially ... Wednesday) ... the plastic is almost totally ignored....... especially at anchor!! All the fish are keyed in on one thing .... and in competition for the Squid ....ALL else is pretty well egnored by the fishys unless it is something that is very specific to the fish's area or where a big amount of a forage fish has been around for some time!!

All paying customers have a right to fish open spots not bought up so no squawk there .... the problem is these idiots are throwing their lines over mine, holding their rods so that if I try to strike a fish (me holding my rod straight, ya straight out at 90% from the rail) I would hit their rod, trying to crowd me to half my position, yada yada yada.

Example: Jerk sees he can't get the corner spot as my buddy and I have rod holders and rods set AT our ticketed spots. There is 3 open spaces to my right initially. This guy comes from another spot up the way and puts his beer can 6 inches from the notch of my spot. That means moron has 4 1/2 spaces to fish by crowding me. I say to this guy, that beer is so close to me ... don't blame me if it gets knocked over. (not in a mean voice) so what does half-wit say in response, if you don't touch it, there's no problem. See what I'm saying. These guys are not indemnic to any boat or landing .... nor is there any way to clue them as they don't respect others enough to give a rats' little pink behind!!

NO... all you guys ... you, steve , K3vin_kim, and a bunch of other guys that I know from these boards or at least see them on the boat and pretty much suspect they're on the boards are welcome. Why not ... you have common sense, you're not pure, to the exclusion of sport meat-hunters, you know me and my fishing and one way or another we find a way to accomodate one another's fishing without a hitch!!

    That's enough from me !!

Look forward to fishing with everybody on the Spit one of these Sundays ....

    Hi ghetto dad,

thanks ... it's all good. Looks like things are going pretty good on your end too. Lot of guys out there have a lot to thank you for on orgnizing trips, getting guys setup and all the stuff no one ever sees. I hope you're recognized by all for your efforts.

Kudos on your selflessness in getting some of the guys to extensively report on trips that everybody went on ... that's what develops our community! No matter that your and my reports are top-rate ..... there's always good stuff from others perspective. That's who went on the trip and those that have something positive to add!!

    thanks again and later ....

Thanks alot ron, i appreciate those kind words....i am very lucky to have the crew that i have....they are all great guys, and we click very well (most of us, lol) on the boats, and off the boats......as far as getting "recognized", i feel i get all the recognition that i could ever ask from all my boyz by them continuing to fish with me....you need to come along with us one day Ron....i want you to try your plastics up in the bay...when early spring hits, we will be trying various landings......the best game in town currently, imo, is the Spitfire.....top notch everything...and there are alot of GREAT winter time bass areas up in the bay...if it aint broke, why fix it???? I cant wait till the island heats up, I miss fishing on the Liberty for those trips....i NEED to throw some iron!!!!!!! lol...take it easy man...

    Hi ghetto dad,

I saw somebody just got a 25lb yellow on the front side on a PB, just north of Bird Rock ... you know that deeper submerged reef between Ship Rock and the shore .... I bet that's where they caught it in 120 feet of water.

It would be nice to have a Squid/WSB run at Catalina in early March !!
