!!!BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!! Sat. Dec 29th Huntington Inshore

On Friday night, I picked up sum fresh dead squid at a Vietnamese supermarket at Euclid & GGBLVD. $1.18/lb!!!!! Got 3 trips worth for $7.00!!!

Took by best friend Harv out Sat. and he invited an avid fly-fisherman friend of his, Quang, to go with. The plan was to hit some of the wrecks and rocks off Huntington.

We met at the dock at 6am and I was prepared for a COLD *** day on the Striper; However, the temp at 5:30 was a balmy 54, and there was NO breeze! I was stoked!

We launched just after light, and Quang was immediately impressed by the wonderful freedom that is boating on the ocean. It was FLAT and beautiful. At the very least, we were in for a nice boat ride.

Water temp was 54-55 all day. We fished amongst the commercial bug traps at a local wreck. We were greeted almost immediately by our target species, Mr. Grumpy….Or, at least, Mr. Grumpy’s children! LOL!

The weather warmed up as we enjoyed a pristine, sun-shiny day of Huntington. We almost had to get down to our T-shirt layer. There were some mean looking clouds oer the mainland tho. You lanlubbers looked like u got some rain! LOL!

Harvey hooked the large fish-o-the-day, a nice sandbass. Nice job Harv!

Then Quang started getting in the action.

There were clouds of these pesky lil boogers at the wreck. We basically waited for Mr' Grumpy to bite while they ate the tails off our Gulp! jerkshads!
Finally, just to see what kept hitting us, I tied a #14 treble on with sum squid and had a field day on my 4lb. setup. Anyone know what they are??? A perch of sum sort I'd guess.

Then harv caught this lil guy, the only sheepy this trip.

Quang got the only Calico of the trip....Or so I thought.

I picked this lil sucka up at Esther.

This is PB Sculpin. Musta been 2lbs +. All Fish CPR'd BTW.

This is the 1 and only whitefish of the day...Too bad we didn't get more or I woulda had a fish fry!

Couple of wildlife shots 4 ya.

Another beautimus day on theStrippin' Striper!

    Hope u enjoyed!

Ron, since we were fishing in 75-100 feet, and he was here on a whim, the fly-fishing thang didn't happen. I was hoping to get him turned on to the mack attack for fun on my 8 wt, but alas, the water is cooold.

Was a great day tho. Thanks to all.
