    Default side imaging sonar

I just saw an ad for Hummingbird's "side imaging" sonar technology... looks interesting and at a reasonable price... check it out here:

    http://www.sideimaging.com/

Anybody have experience with these units?

Both of my hummin bird units on my boat have the side imaging, but I have honestly never used them, always stuck to the bottom sonar.

I have read that this technology is quite beneficial for identifying structure without driving your boat over it and potentially spooking the fish. It also said your time is greatly reduce when searching for structure, in that, you don't have to "comb" an area to find it. However, I haven't used it so that could all be bull****. Interested to hear other's opinions who have used this technology.
