Why do spinning reels have the option to reel backwards, is there a great advantage to use it while fishing.
Some feel they have more control than using the drag,some anglers are very proficient at it.

Watch some old Jarrett Edwards fishing shows in re-run or on YouTube. He loves to fish largemouth on 4 to 6 pound line. He is a big proponent of the backwards reel.
