Next Plant: 4,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout Saturday December 14th.
Water temperature: At surface 60.08 f., 8.03 D.O. @ 15’ 60.44 f., 7.85 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
Permit and Boat Rentals are sold at the Ranger Station. We do not sell fishing licenses, bait, or tackle, so anglers must acquire these essentials items elsewhere prior to their visit. All day motor boats are discounted to $20 for active military every Saturday.
Due to the threat of Quagga mussels, there is a ban on private water craft and equipment. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Opening day of trout season is three weeks away! Make plans to come join us Saturday December the 14th for the beginning of trout season. We will re-open for weekday fishing at that time.
Catfish are being caught at the West Buoys, in Oakvale Cove. Drop by the ranger station to pick up a dough-bait recipe that works well for both catfish and carp.
Largemouth Bass can be found around structure. Bass respond well to crawdads, frogs, and dark colored plastics.
The new crappie float that was installed in the cove adjacent to the South Shore Rock Pile has become the new hub of activity for crappie fishing. Crappie are most often caught on finger jigs or live golden shiners.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
