Water temperature: At surface 78.16 f., 4.88 D.O. @ 15’ 80.06 f., 4.49 D.O.Water level: Lowlevel, private watercraft are currently banned.Permits and boat rentals are sold at the Ranger Station. Currently we are credit/debit only no cash transactions. We do not sell fishing licenses so anglers must acquire them elsewhere prior to their visit. The lake is offering $20 all day motor boats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military every Saturday.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels there is a ban on private watercraft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Catfish were planted yesterday about noon and the bite this morning is outstanding with some anglers limiting out by mid-morning. Boat Dock Cove and Senior Shoreline are doing well, as would be expected, due to their proximity to the where the fish got planted. Look for the fish to spread out as we move into next week. Lake Wohlford cats respond well to cut mackerel or chicken liver. The carp were actively spawning, again, during much of the past week. Stop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that works well on both catfish and carp.
Largemouth bass can be found lurking around structure or working the outskirts of the reeds. The bass prefer dark colored plastics, crawdads, and jerk-baits.
