Last Plant: 1,000 lbs. of Channel Catfish the week of June 26th to July 2nd.
Next Plant: 1,000 lbs. of Channel Catfish the week of July 10th to July16th.
Water temperature: At surface 77.72 f., 6.07 D.O. @ 15’ 78.62 f., 5.82 D.O.Water level: Lowlevel, private watercraft are currently banned.Permits and boat rentals are sold at the Ranger Station. We are credit/debit only, no cash transactions. We do not sell fishing licenses so anglers must obtain them elsewhere prior to their visit. The lake is offering half price motor boats to seniors on Tuesdays & Thursdays and to active military every Saturday.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels there is a ban on private watercraft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
The first of three consecutive weekly plants arrives this week. Catfish action should heat up throughout July and into early August. Lake Wohlford cats prefer chicken liver, shrimp, or cut mackerel.
Black Crappie are being caught under the crappie float or by boaters trolling for them. Crappie bite mini-jigs and live golden shiners. They prefer cover and bite best in the early mornings or late afternoons.
Largemouth Bass can be found lurking around structure. Jeff Warren of Vista caught and released a 7.90# bass on a crank-bait in Oakvale Cove Sunday. Bass can be caught on crankbaits, dark colored plastics, or crawdads.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. Contest winners must legally catch their fish at Lake Wohlford and have it weighed in by a Wohlford Ranger on our scale.
