…is not a Bluegill at all, but is a Redear Sunfish! But still, at 3.69 pounds, it's a great catch. Guy caught it fishing for bass with a Senko. Going to have to put up the guy's name. Anyone know it?
I was going to comment that is was a Redear before reading your second post. Beaut of a fish. Was it released?
The email he sent me said it was 3.59 and 15". The picture had his little girls in it, so I had no intention of posting it. I told him at the time that it was a redear. With the quagga population in Skinner, we will likely see some larger ones. I sent the information to the Skinner moderator some time ago, but never got a response.
Hey guys, my name is Jonathan. Yes I released the fish after weighing it at the dock. It was great to have my girls w/ me to be part of this new record. Larry please post the other pic w/ my girls here as well. Thanks
Great pic with you and your girls with a catch they will remember for "LIFE". Priceless event with many more to come I am sure of.:UDaMan:
Now that is a pic worthy of framing.
It doesn't quite look like a Redear to me, either. Perhaps it's a Bluegill/Redear hybrid. I used to catch Bluegills in Skinner a long time ago, but never any Redears. They should be in there, though. Same thing with Silverwood Lake. It should have Redears but I have yet to see one there.
Wow that's quite a catch,awesome pic with your girls,congrats!

Great Pic!
Probably a hybrid. The dorsal spines look too short.
Redear dominant green hybrid? The rest of it looks normal, though.
Perhaps it's just so fat it makes the spines look odd. :D
im never caught a redear but caught lots of small well tiny bluegills compared to that BIG MONSTER All I can say is WOW and CONGRATULATIONS that's a catch of a life time and that's cool your daughters were there to share that great memory forever:UDaMan:
Congrats on that beautiful fish, must have fought like hell. -I have fond memories fishing with my daughter there back in the 90's, thanks for sharing.
Awesome! Congrats, always awesome when the little ones are with you.
Congrats Sir, I was there fishing at the Inlet when you caught that monster . You were the talk of the lake that day! Great catch and awesome pictures .
Do you know if he put it back? That's a beast that needs to breed. I hope he took a pic and put it back, but if he didn't, I'm sure it was very tasty haha.
What was the technique? Bobber and crawler?
Congrats. Deffinitely a Paul Bunyan size "pan fish"!
Great catch !!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you had good eatting with it !
Eat it!? You don't kill a fish like that! You quickly take measurements and photos and get that pig back in the water! Only thing is, what do you do if you happen to catch a "World Record" fish? No taxidermist is going to have a mold for it yet, so you may have to kill it so a taxidermist can make the original mold for replicas.
Nice "Plate"! Congrats!

Bluegill, Red Ear, Hybrid I'm no marine biologist but I am a fisherman and that is a very nice panfish. Congrats on your catch with the girls. Thank you for sharing.
