Water temperature: At surface 73.76 f., 8.22 D.O. @ 15’ 73.94 f., 6.89 D.O.Water level: Lowlevel, private water craft are currently banned.Permits and boat rentals are sold at the Ranger Station. We do not sell fishing licenses so anglers must acquire them elsewhere prior to their visit. Facial coverings are required when purchasing a fishing permit or when entering or exiting the boats or boat dock area. Social distancing guidelines will be enforced within the park.
To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
The lake is offering $20 all day motor boats to seniors on Tuesday and Thursdays and to active military every Saturday. Ongoing health protocols dictate that only half of our boat fleet is available for rent on any given day. Visitors desiring a boat should arrive early because they sell out quickly. The catfish bite remains strong. Josh Jacobson of Scripps Ranch landed a monster 39.60# catfish Sunday using cut mackerel at the West Buoy Line. We have recently expanded our bait options to include catfish bait. We now offer frozen; chicken liver, mackerel, and anchovies. Double digit crappie are being recorded by boaters trolling for these pan fish. Crappie are most often caught on finger jigs or live golden shiners. Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit.
