Water temperature: At surface 61.52 f., 7.23 D.O. @ 15’ 62.06 f., 7.06 D.O.Water level: Lowlevel, private watercraft are currently banned.Permits and boat rentals are sold at the Ranger Station. We are credit/debit only no cash transactions. We do not sell fishing licenses so anglers must obtain them elsewhere prior to their visit. The lake is offering $20 all day motor boats to active military every Saturday.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels there is a ban on private watercraft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
The park remains closed to visitors and fisherman alike during the weekdays. We are still open on weekends. We will re-open for weekday fishing starting Monday December 13th. Just two weeks to go until the start of trout season Saturday December 11^th.
Fall is a good time for catching large catfish. Lake Wohlford cats are most frequently caught using chicken liver, shrimp, or cut mackerel.
Mostly small to medium sized bass being caught. Largemouth Bass can be found lingering around structure. The bass respond well to dark colored plastics, crawdads, and crank-baits.
Crappie are being caught in small numbers. Crappie prefer the cover of shade and are most often caught using finger jigs or live golden shiners.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. Contest winners must legally catch their fish at Lake Wohlford and have their fish weighed in by a Wohlford Ranger on our scale.
