Next Plant: 4,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout Saturday December 8th.
Water temperature: At surface 55.00 f., 8.84 D.O. @ 10’ 56.50 f., 8.37 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
Permit and Boat Rentals are sold via a fully automated machine located at the Ranger Station. At present, we do not sell fishing licenses, bait, or tackle, so anglers must acquire these essentials elsewhere prior to their visit. All day motor boats are discounted to $20 for active military every Saturday.
Due to the threat of Quagga mussels, there is a ban on private water craft and equipment. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
The park is closed weekdays during the fall. We will re-open for weekday fishing and recreation beginning December 10th. We remain open on the weekends throughout. Opening day of trout season is Dec. 8th, just one week away.
Catfish are being caught throughout the lake. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver.
Bass can be found around structure and are hitting crawdads, frogs, and various dark colored plastics. Joey Mayerchik of Valley Center caught and released a 9.60# bass Sunday using a plastic worm in Boat Dock Cove.
Crappie prefer the cover of shade and are most often caught using finger jigs or live golden shiners. They bite best in the predawn hours.
