Water temperature: At surface 55.76 f., 8.53 D.O. @ 15’ 55.58 f., 8.40 D.O.Water level: Lowlevel, private water craft are currently banned. Permit and Boat Rentals are sold at the Ranger Station. We do not sell fishing licenses so anglers 16 and older must acquire this item elsewhere prior to their visit. Motor boats are discounted to $20 for seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and for active military every Saturday.
Due to the threat of Quagga mussels, there is a ban on private water craft and equipment. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Opening day saw a huge turnout. Thank you to all who came out to the lake and welcome back. The next plant is Wednesday the 18th so the action should remain brisk. Success with the trout is often dependent on light tackle; size # 14 treble hooks, or smaller, and leader lines no heavier than 3 or 4 pound test.
There are a few changes since last season; we are now offering a limited supply of bait & tackle and the passenger limits on the rental boats have been decreased. In the interests of safety, we now only allow 4 adults for regular boats, and just two adults per bass boat.
Largemouth Bass can be found around structure. Bass respond well to crawdads, frogs, and dark colored plastics.
The new crappie float that has become the place to be for catching crappie. Crappie are most often caught on finger jigs or live golden shiners.
