I always love looking at vintage pics. It gives a glimpse into how great the fishing was back then lol! btw, there are still some piers in San Francisco that look very much like those newport ones you have here.
The last one was taken a week ago. Its you in a costume in front of a beach background. Nice try!:LOL:
I have great memories of fishing on the Redondo Pier and buying live bait one or two pieces at a time!

More Than Two Million Fish Caught Off Newport Pier 1924
...350 fishermen bringing in an average of twelve fish daily had a total of 4200 fish. On Sundays with an average of 900 fishermen the day’s catch would be 10,800 or for the week 26,000 fish. Figuring four Sundays a month to the month and twenty-six week days the total for the month was 152,4000 and for the twelve months or one year 1,828,800.
When I was a kid my dad used to launch our boat at Paradise Cove Pier. They had a crane and sling on the pier, also had a small bait barge. Many moons ago, great pictures..........Verne
